Yes, a better install can help reduce the noise, the the friction material itself is not designed for quiet operation and you'll never eliminate it like you can with a proper street pad. Because they're formulated to be an aggressive street or autocross pad, they do just fine cold and don't require any warm up. As far as rotor wear, when I used them as an introductory track pad on street tires, I noticed no accelerated rotor wear. That didn't show up until the Blues, HT-10, and DTC heat ranges.
